Vegan in OKC
Up until last July, I lived in Oklahoma and Sam lived in Colorado. Toward the end of my first spring semester, he came to visit. This was excellent timing as a much needed writing/work break was needed. While he was here, we checked out a few places in Oklahoma City.
The highlight of our eating was The Loaded Bowl. I prefer to eat most meals out of a bowl, so the idea that most entrees would be served to me in a bowl sounded terrific. Sam and I went for brunch. Though I checked out the bowl menu ahead of time, the Sunday brunch features a rotating menu. Though I couldn't order a vegan mac n' cheese, I was excited because I could eat EVERYTHING on the menu--The Loaded Bowl is vegan! This means that we also ordered way too much food.
I started with the vegan breakfast burrito, served with potatoes and broccoli. Sam had a tofu scramble and vegan sausage pancake bites. We shared biscuits and gravy and bought an almond cookie and a turmeric spice latte doughnut to go.
The savory and the sweet were perfection; the potatoes were cooked just the way I like them with a little bit of crunch and the cookie was just the right amount of chewy. Sam and I will definitely be returning to The Loaded Bowl.
